Thor (movie review)

Thor and his Mjollnir
 Salam... hye all..

actually its been a while that i've watched thor on the big screen (a few weeks back ekceli) and i i've been meaning to do a movie review entry about thor ever since... but.. but... lazy maaa.. hehehe..

i went,
with whom: sis n nephew
venue: TGV Bukit Raja (closest to sisters house that still had tix last minute)

THOR...

at first, was not quite interested when sis wanted to see this movie.. thought it was too much for kids.. but i guess i was proven wrong.. it was not only for kids.. (especially with the oh so macho Chris Hemsworth as Thor) hehehehe... in this movie he reminds me so much of the late Heath Ledger.. maybe its his smile..

Storyline:
Thor is a legendary story so i guess the storyline cant run that far.. (eventho i've never heard of the original Thor story) all that i knew was Thor is a Marvel cartoon superhero like superman, batman, captain america etc2... (as u can see, all the marvel superheroes have shifted from cartoon characters to human characters)

Thor is the son of Odin and heir to the thrown... there was once war between the Asgards (where Thor is from) and these icy type beings (cant remember the name.. hehehe).. Odin was able to cut a deal, but Odin ceased the icy beings source of power.. so everything was at peace.. (Asgards love peace).. to cut things short, an insider let some of these icy beings into Asgard to retrieve the source of power but failed, Thor (being an arrogant brat) headed his team n friends (including younger bro, Loki) to seek revenge but outnumbered (including injuring his friends.. but good thing daddy came to the rescue)...

back at Asgard, daddy Odin (Anthony Hopkins) was disappointed with Thor's reckless actions and sent him to Earth with no powers as punishment (and also to teach him about humanity).. daddy Odin also sent down Thors' hammer, Mjollnir (pronounced Mole-near) but only someone with true responsibility and actual Thor spirit (and stuff like that la) can pick up the hammer.. to cut things short, brother Loki (which actually isn't his bro, actually an icy being brought up by Odin) is the bad guy.. daddy Odin fell into a deep sleep, Loki led the icy beings into Asgard, Thors friends came down to Earth to inform Thor the situation... by then, Thor was already a well mannered man, in love with a young scientist, Jane (Natalie Portman) and willing to die for the people of Earth (Loki sent down a metal firey robot to kill Thor and whtever came its way).. Thor was at the brink of death, Mjollnir (Thors' hammer) came alive and flew to its master and brought him back to life.. Thor killed the robot, went back to Asgard to face bro Loki, fight..fight..fight... Loki went gliding into space..

Thor promised he wud come back to earth for Jane, but during the fighting scene, Thor broke the bridge that led to this machine (they use it for travelling to other realms using lightning) to prevent more icy beings entering Asgard... so in the end, the hero didnt get the girl.. auwwww... poor Thor.. :'(

The End (or sumthing like dat) :p

What i like about the movie:
Thor and his kind are sort of like gods a.k.a dewa la.. so i like how their voices (especially thors' and the gate keeper) sound rather big and echoey like (is there even such a word.. hahaha).. i guess it was to show how god-like they were and more superior than mankind..
apart from that i guess maybe i liked a few funny quotes and scenes in the movie.. (Imagine the newly banished to Earth arrogant Thor, entering a pet shop and saying "I want a horse"... hahaha..)
i also like the character of Heimdall, the gate keeper (played by Idris Elba).. he doesnt say much but when he does, he means business.. he is loyal to his king.. but there is also a funny scene that includes him letting Thors friend come down to earth eventho the king (Loki at that time) did not allow it..

personal grand overview: 3 stars/5stars (can do lah..)

thts all for this time.. gonna do a movie review of another movie i recently saw.. hehehehe

peace out.. Salamm...
